Do I report Health Insurance Premiums paid on the 1099-MISC?

02 Sep

It’s driving me nuts! We’re an LLC and everything I’ve read has just confused me more, and people I’ve talked to have conflicting opinions. Do I need to report our health insurance premiums paid to our plan provider on the 1099-MISC?

I got rear ended and the guy who hit me is pressuring me – should i get insurance involved?

31 Aug

The person in front of me was tail gating the person ahead of him so I was trying to keep distance and my brakes were on/off. The guy behind me crashed into me from behind.
There was minor damage to my car – deep scratches that need a paint job and the left bumper that almost came off. He had a dent in his hood. He was very apologetic claiming it was his fault. He was willing to pay for all the damages and felt very bad about the situation. He said that if insurance gets involved, the higher our rates would go up but said it was all up to me in what I wanted to do. We exchanged information and was willing to fix my car as soon as possible. He called me and did his research in which we would get my car fixed.

My back is hurting badly now and I’m going to get it checked now. He just called me up asking if he can meet up again to take pictures of my car. Thing is why would he want to take “better pictures” of my car? Don’t you have to go show the people? I just got off the phone w. him and he said that I have minor damages compared to his dent in the hood. He believes that because I suddenly braked, he braked as well causing his hood to slide under my back…. He pretty much made it seem like what he did was very minor. I didn’t meet up w. him b/c my parents drove another car to take me to the Dr. and got upset and was suspicious and accused me of illegal fraud? I killed him back w. kindness and he was being nice saying he wanted to fix my car ASAP. He really scared me last night and I’m feeling pressure b/c he wants to fix it NOW.

IS HE POSSIBLY TRYING TO TURN THIS THING AROUND NOW??
isn’t it ilegal too if he tries to fix it?

Why is my car insurance quote so high?

31 Aug

I have been to CompareTheMarket for a quote on car insurance, and the cheapest quote was around £5,000 for a car that costs £250. Why is my quote so high? I’m a first time driver living in an area with a fairly high crime rate.

After changing the address to my girlfriends the quote came down to £2,000. This is still way too much considering the cost of the car! Is there any way to bring the insurance cost down? I wont be able to afford to drive at this rate.
I’m from the UK.

Am i paying too much for car insurance?

29 Aug

I am in my early 30s. A single male, no kids.
I have a pretty much spotless driving record. The only ticket i have had in the past 10 years that i can think of off hand was for not using a turn signal, that was over a year ago. Other than that, nothing in around 10 years. No claims on my insurance in over 10 years either.
I drive a 2001 Ford ZX2, its a compact car-for those not familiar with it , it would be similar to a Chevy Cavalier or Dodge Neon.
Oh, im paying $700 every 6 months for full coverage car insurance through Nationwide. I have been with them ever since i started driving.
This seems like alot. Is it? My friends tell me im overpaying, yet when i call around other places to get quotes i never find anything cheaper. In fact several places have told me to stay where im at.
I dont have a problem paying it, but im just trying to find out if this sounds about right and fair as far as the price goes.
Anyone out there a insurance agent?

‘03 Infiniti G35 coupe vs. ‘01 Audi TT vs. ‘05 Mazda Rx8 vs. ‘07 Scion TC?

29 Aug

Ok: here’s my new lineup:

http://www.cars.com/go/compare/trimCompare.jsp?acodes=USB30INC082B0,USB70SCC031A0,USB00AUC111A0,USB50MAC161B0&compType=D

They’re all in the same price range. What would you pick and why? All good sense in my head is telling me to go with the Scion for fuel efficiency, reliability, low maintenance costs & insurance etc. but I’m not entirely sure I can follow that good sense…… It’s a decent looking car (kinna reminds me of the Lexus IS250 appearance-wise) but I’ve been in love with the G35 from the first moment I saw it, love the idea of a sporty car with 4 doors on the Mazda along with a silky smooth ride, and impressed by the fuel efficiency of the Audi TT…. really, I’m not sure why else the TT is on there but it’s the only one I haven’t heard any feedback on yet.

thank you in advance for your input.

Are annuity health insurance premiums deductible?

26 Aug

My husband gets a government pension. His health insurance premiums are deducted from the annuity payments each month. (I don’t know yet if the premiums are paid with pre-tax or post-tax dollars, looking into it.) Are those premiums deductible in the medical expenses area of our federal income taxes?

What would be better financially to do?

23 Aug

Okay, i am 24 years old, and compared to others my age, i am not in debt at all. But compared to my salary, I am in debt. I owe 675 dollars (that’s six hundred and 75 dollars!) on my credit card that has a rather high interest rate. Right now I have 849 in my checking account which is better than I’ve had for a very long time (the avergae I have in my account after main bills are paid is 100 dollars or 25). I get paid at my clothing store job every 2 weeks, just got my check today, and my other job with the school district once a month. My next check from the school dustrict comes on Nov. 10 and will be roughly 1,200 dollars. My minimum credit card bill is due on Oct. 19th, but when I pay the minimum, bc of my interest rate, it doesn’t change the amount, only keeps it from getting higher. I owe my dad at least 100 dollars this month for my car, my mom at least 73 for insurance, and to keep my end of the bargain up with my boyfriend whom I live with for free, about 75 for groceries. I w
I was wondering if I should pay my whole credit card bill and just have no balance left (this balance has been dangling in the air now for quite awhile now, and what a relief it would be), or should I only pay say about 100-200 and have money left over for my other bills and even when those are done still have money left over? If I pay my whole credit card bill I will only have about 175 dollars left in my checking account, only enough for groceries and my phone bill, not the bills I owe my parents, who are understanding about it. And I won’t get another check until the 26th of Oct from the clothing store I work at, and it will be optimistically about 340 dollars. What would be the wisest thing to do financially? Should I wait til my bigger check from the school district on the 10th of Nov. comes and use that to pay it?

Will health insurance premiums ever be tax-deductible?

20 Aug

I purchase my own health insurance. The one thing in health reform that would have helped people like me would have been to allow the deduction premiums from our taxes, just like people with employer-provided insurance and self-employed individuals can do.

Now that people will have to be purchasing health insurance, will they have to pay with after-tax dollars too? I haven’t heard of anything in the bill that addressed this. You’d think with 2000+ pages they could have squeezed this in.

Genesis Coupe or Subaru WRX?

20 Aug

Looking for a new car now that I have graduated college. I have $12000 from a trade-in. Now I am looking into the Genesis Coupe 3.8 or the 2011 WRX(not sti). Apparently the Gen is coming out with a v6 rspec for 2011 so I will be looking into pricing on that. I near Philadelphia so there is some snow. But I would have to get a winter setup with either vehicle. RWD vs AWD, but I’ve seen that with winter tires the Genesis coupe isn’t bad on snow. Performance. 0-60 is kinda bs cuz the genesis has to shift into 3rd gear right before 60. Is the Genesis faster overall? It seems to be a much nicer driving car, especially for everyday. Also, insurance. What would the genesis be like compared to the insurance killer WRX. As for gas, it seems like the genesis gets much better gas mileage without the constant awd setup and it runs on 87. Warranty: Is hyundais really that good? They say its one of the best in thebusiness but what does it cover. It is certainly way longer than subaru’s. Any advice to push me one way or another would be appreciated. Especially considering you cant really drive a wrx around me, they are sold before they hit the dealerships.
