How much should Car Insurance Cost?
Most insurance agents will tell you to buy as much as you can afford -
however, this is not particularly helpful if it doesn’t let you
go out there and buy the right policy.
How much should you pay? How much do other companies cost – and what
cover does this get you? These are the questions that you can work
out when you shop around for car insurance quotes.
The details of the policy should spell out such items as injuries, to
your self as well as to your car(s) – as well as cover for other people
that are affected in any accidents you or your vehicle are involved with.
You might even need legal cover if there is a dispute over whose fault
it is or in a really serious accident where someone gets really hurt and
has medical bills or consequences. So the idea that you should get ‘as much
insurance as you can afford’ is not necessarily such a bad one….
If your car gets off the road because it is broken, then you should see
if you get a free hire car during repair. Certain companies offer this
as standard, for example Marks and Spencer Car Insurance.
Another thing to consider is whether you might want to take a ‘value’
insurance policy such as Tesco Car Insurance.
This might be right
for you but it does mean that you pay a far higher excess if you do have
to claim, and the smaller items such as windscreen damage are not covered.
The company said that the policy was designed around those things that
customers said they could ‘do without’.
So there are policies to suit all pockets, wallets and purses, but do
be careful what you pay for!
