Okay for my whole life I wanted a Monte Carlo SS for my first car. I have been looking at some (2001-03) and they are nice. But lately I have been considering how inconvenient the two doors are. I want to have a lot of people drive with me, like I would be the driver usually. But I don’t think people would like getting in and out of the two doors as much and its a pain. 4 doors is just a lot more convenient than a 2 door, but I like the style and sportiness of a 2 door.
I am planning on only spending at most like $5,600-5,800. The montes are usually over priced and have a lot of miles on them too. I have been looking at Grand Prix’s too, only the generation from 2004- though. They are a tad bit more pricey, but they are sporty too and they are very nice on the inside and very practical.
Lastly, I said how I like the look of a two door but the practicality of a four door so I have been looking at Saturn Ion Quad Coupes (the two door car with two suicide doors also). You get a 4 door just in the style and body of a 2 door. Also, the Ion has good gas mileage (real good compared to say the other cars) which is VERY helpful for a first time driver. The back seats are really big, which was something I was worried about since I want people to like riding in my car then I would hope they would have enough leg room and be comfortable. I love the suicide doors, there really convenient and actually nicer than normal doors haha. There aren’t very many of them around here, only one I have found.
Today, I went and looked at a 2003 Saturn Ion Quad Coupe 3 with 110,000 miles. It was really nice and in great condition, it didnt have too many features, but it had a moonroof which I like and an upgraded radio and sound system. The car is going for $4,800 which is a good deal and I would like to pay that much for a car so that way I have a lot of money left over to buy insurance and pay for the tax and the title etc…
BUT! I found out that the car DOES NOT have traction control or ABS. Now remember, I am a first time driver in MICHIGAN (aka snow, weather). Now should I buy this car even though it doesnt have ABS, because, remember, this is like the only one I have found that I liked and probably will be the only for a while and this guy could also end up selling this to someone else. OR should I pass it up and look at more Grand Prix’s and hope I find a good one their.
Help, thank you!
