I was just involved in a car accident. I scratched another car when I was planning to pull out my car in an alley without flashing a signal. My car was ok. The scratch on the other car was roughly from wheel to wheel and with a slight crease in the middle. It was pretty obvious on a black new car. The estimate from the auto body shop was around $800.
I know that the premium will increase after the carrier handles that car’s damage for me without paying anything to the other car’s damage. But I wonder how much increase it may be. If the increase is large enough, I’d consider to settle this down with the other party without notifying the insurance company. My current carrier is Geico with 15k/30k minimum coverage (not a comprehensive one) in Pennsylvania. I am a pretty new driver (2 months after getting a license) and there is no previous records. Thanks.

I’m a beginner driver and I have my first car and a new insurance. Today I hit a standing car. My car requires some body work and the other car was not damaged at all. There was no police report filed. I’m 24 and single.

I plead a DUI down to a wet and reckless for a reduced charge. This was over a year ago, and my insurance premium hasn’t changed a bit. Does it have anything to do with the fact that i have minimum legal coverage, or do they simply not acknowledge this charge? Im asking because I want to switch to comprehensive coverage but im afraid that will trigger something in their system. I would call and ask but I don’t want them to raise my rate in case they overlooked something. I’m with Mercury insurance. Thanks

I am simply looking for a good estimate in the percent increase of my auto insurance premium givin these circumstances. I am with allstate and I live in Louisiana. I have one speeding ticket that I got 2 years ago when I was on another policy. I just got a ticket the other day on my motorcycle for 67 in a 45. I had to get private health insurance after my husband’s retiree insurance was cancelled (his former employer closed). He’s eligible for Medicare but I have 16 more months. BCBS quoted a figure online BEFORE I filled out the app that was WAY lower than the figure I ended up with. The reason they gave was high blood pressure and the fact that I had visited a chiropractor several times after an auto accident in which I was not at fault.

I rear-ended a car and that car hit another car. The car in the middle I believe will have lots of damages to repair. When my premium rates increase, what is the deciding factor on how much it will increase? Is it the cost of repairs to the cars? or just the fact that I got into an accident. In addition, with this one accident and 2 cars having damaged does that mean that the insurance company would see me hitting 2 cars instead of one which will increase my premium even more? And by the way, my insurance company is mercury if that helps! Thanks!
