In february this year I backed out of a parking space and hit a hyundai that was backed into the spot behind me. The estimated damage was $800. I didn’t have the money at the time so we went through the insurance companies. I was told by the insurance representative that If I didn’t pay the deductible to fix my truck then the only money I would pay was a possible slight increase in premiums.
Now my auto insurance company has increased my premium by about $40 (no biggie). The thing that gets me is what was explained to be a surcharge of $320 every 6 months for 3 years. That increases my insurance to over $1000 from $630 per 6 months!
I’m 20 years old, in the military and can’t afford this! That’s almost 2 months pay for me for a year of car insurance!
Does this seem right? I don’t know much about car insurance but this seems like a drastic punishment for cracking a hyundai’s bumper.

Ive been looking for good insurance company because ill be getting my first car next month. its a white 2007 Deluxe Mustang, and of my age (18) my family is saying that my rates will be high. well i looking up qoutes and i got a few $178 $384 $668 and i was wondering it the quote for one month or 6. i looked at progressive, esurance, gieco, Ais etc.
my husband was hurt in a non work related accident.he has group ins. through his job and pays extra for me.His dr told him he would be off work for at least a month maybe more.shocked we were when his weeks paycheck came minus $480.00 because they took a months premiums out they didn’t inform or ask……as if we were not already stressed on our finances Can they do that
I pay for my own health insurance. The premium has doubled in the last 3 years and now is going up again March 1. I’m not old enough for Medicare and my employer doesn’t pay for insurance.
Should I quit, get unemployment benefits and cobra while trying to find an employer who will provide health insurance?
Or should I go without health insurance and just use the emergency room if I get sick?
The question is, IS IT FAIR?

I was told by an agent that if the application was approved, the first month payment would automatically be drawn. Is this true? Do I get a chance to review the contact (within a window period of time) and decide if I will go for it?
The person who hit me came forward 2 months later. I’m thinking because she realized the intersection had cameras. Her insurance company is willing to settle, but I’m not sure of the amount they want to present. I dont really care for getting a lawyer (dont know if I should really) because fortunately, I was hurt minimally compared to other hit/run victims. But again, not sure of what a “typical” settlement amount would be in this case…
