Caveat when shopping for car/home insurances?

24 Mar

The cost of everything is going up while the companies are awarding layoffs, furloughs AND “salary reduction” to average Americans. In spite of this, insurance companies are using inflation as an excuse to continually increase premiums to average Americas.

If you were to shop for a new insurance carrier, what do you to prepare for a wise shopping in light of the fact, in most likelihood, you will have to surrender your protected info (driver’s license # and SS#) to those people who you will help.

How do you prepare, and what are the things to be aware when speaking with those brokers/agents to not get taken advantage of.

Please share your experiences/advices/opinions.

I have had my identity stolen and now I am very sceptical of shopping online for anything. I am looking to try to save money on my auto insurance by shopping around but can only find companies who want to give me a free online auto insurance quote. People aren’t aware that during this online process you must enter your social security number, and all your personal informaion online. That is Crazy!!!
Do people really think that this is SAFE way to shop for auto insurance?

Getting Cheaper Car Insurance by Shopping Online

09 Sep

Have you ever considered getting cheaper car insurance? Chances are, you probably won’t be able to hunt down anything that will be able to beat the opportunities that are currently available on the Internet. That means in order to get the best pricing, you will need to consider purchasing car insurance on the web. So just why is buying car insurance cheaper on the web?

Why buying car insurance is less costly on the Internet

There are multiple reasons why car insurance prices are cheaper on the Internet. Here are three main reasons:

1) Car insurance suppliers find that the operational expenses of doing business is reduced when drivers apply for car insurance online. For example, if a potential customer rings to make a quotation request, a company rep will have to be present to deal with the enquiries. And at any one time, a service representitive can only attend to a single request.

So in order to improve the volume of outgoing insurance quotes, which in turn leads to increased revenues, car insurance suppliers will have to increase their call centers. That leads to rising business costs as call centers are not cheap to run. Nor are they simple to operate. To avoid these costs and business challenges, a number of auto insurance suppliers have been eagerly looking to deal with quotes on the Internet. This option is undoubtedly more economical. It is also more efficient and convenient for both the car insurance suppliers and the customers. And usually, customers stand to benefit from the cost savings as the prices of car insurance are kept lower.

2) Due to the openness of the web, prices offered by the popular car insurance suppliers are quickly accessible. With a few quick clicks, and by providing some basic information, anyone can get immediate access to car insurance quotes. This enables drivers to compare prices before coming to a buying choice. Of course, all things being equal, many will select to purchase from the car insurance company who can offer the best cost.

3) Prices are driven down by discounts and promotions. As the car insurance industry is highly competitive (this is further amplified by the Internet), all car insurance companies have to resort to offering steep discounts and attractive promotions. In doing so, they hope to attract new customers, and to encourage renewals. Thus, if you are a first time customer, always ask if there is any discounts for first time buyers. If you happen to be an existing customer, check with the company to see if there are any loyalty reward offers. Usually, the rate of loyalty discounts depend on the number of years a consumer has remained with the company. The car insurance will usually be much cheaper if a customer has been renewing with the same company for a number of years.

In summary, you will be able to get cheaper car insurance when you buy online due to reduced business costs, accessibility to prices for comparison, and competition between the insurance providers. So visit car insurance comparison websites to stay on top of the latest car insurance pricing trends, promotions, and discounts.

Car Shopping With Cheaper Car Insurance in Mind

08 Sep

When you go car shopping, what are you looking for? Are you looking for a sporty little two seater that’s going to impress the babes or a sensible sedan with plenty of room for car seats? Do you want a car that’s going to be good on gas mileage or one that will give you plenty of space to spread out? These are all things that people think about when they’re standing in the middle of a car lot looking for their next set of wheels. What they don’t usually consider is which car will give them cheaper car insurance.

Unless you’ve taken the time to sit down with your insurance agent and find out how they calculate the cost of your car insurance you probably don’t realize that your car itself has as much to do with your insurance premiums as, say, your driving history. Insurance companies don’t like to pay out claims, and there are certain cars that seem to attract trouble like a magnet! You could be the best driver in the world, but if you’re behind the wheel of a “high risk” car cheaper car insurance is going to be as hard to come by as front row seats at a Hannah Montana concert.

So how do you know which cars are going to give you cheaper car insurance? You do your homework. The first thing you should do is make a list of what, exactly, you need in a car. There are a lot of resources on the web that will help you find cars that are cheaper to insure, but they usually forget to mention that this isn’t a one size fits all solution. You’re not going to fit five kids in a Toyota Prius. Not legally, anyway! That means you need to shop with your family in mind.

When you’re shopping for a car you can find out how big a risk your car is the same way your insurance agent does-by consulting the Highway Loss Data Institute. The HLDI has statistics on just about every make and model on the market, and they can tell you whether the car you’re considering buying has losses that are considered to be less than, equal to or greater than the average loss for its vehicle class. Fewer losses and expenses as a result of accidents and/or theft=cheaper car insurance every time.

Regardless of what type of car you’re going to buy, know that cars with advanced safety features are always going to equal cheaper car insurance premiums. Safety features like airbags and anti-lock brakes are going to minimize the injuries suffered by you, your car and your passengers if you’re ever in an accident, which is going to lower your comprehensive and liability insurance costs dramatically. Remember, the less they’re likely to have to pay out, the less you’re going to have to pay in!

Security features like car alarms and GPS tracking systems can also pave the way to cheaper car insurance. Since your car insurance provider has to pay the bill if your car is stolen and/or vandalized, taking steps to stop that from happening will always win you bonus points with your insurer-and the cheaper insurance premiums that go with it!

Cheaper car insurance might not be the first thing on your mind when you go shopping for a new car, but it shouldn’t be the last either. Do your homework before signing on the dotted line and you’ll have the hottest car insurance rates in town every time.
