How would these cars compare to each other, Insurance wise…?

08 Jun

1994 3000gt
1997 Spyder Eclipse
2001 Mustang Vert.

I had talked to an insurance guy who found me a decent price on the 2001 ’stang, but they sold it. I can’t quite remeber the price though sorry. But it was alot less then you would imagine! :) ), for a 16 year old Female.

Like I said I’m not asking you to find out a NUMBER for me I just want to know if the eclipse would be close to the same price for insurance a month or lower…(if so, how much lower?)

I’m not a lazy person, computer’s just jacked..and it’s sunday (can’t call places! ;])

Thanks to those of you know what I’m talking about! ;)
Sorry but I would also like to sadd in the 2000 Celica GTS

(The Eclipse and Mustang are/were neither GT’s)

The eclipse is a 4cyl, automatic!

What costs would I incur if I cancelled my car insurance accident claim?

07 Jun

I snapped a coil spring on the front shock absorber of my car as a result of crashing into a speed ramp and the car is no longer drivable. I tried to do the job myself but was unable to do it. I have now made an insurance claim and the insurance companies recommended garage gave me a quote to replace both front shock absorbers which is quite expensive. My no-claims bonus is protected. Since making the insurance claim, I have found a garage that said he could finish the job I started at a reasonable price.I am now thinking I would like to cancel the claim end get my car back unrepaired. Is this advisable and would my insurance premium still be affected at renewal time. Also, as my car wasn’t drivable after the accident and the garage had to collect it from my house and will have to bring it back.

Under the House bill, what would happen with my health insurance payments?

05 Jun

I make $10/hr and my wife makes about $13/hr. We both have insurance from my employer and pay about $105/month, which is well under 5% of our yearly income . If I understand the information correctly according to http://liheap.ncat.org/profiles/povertytables/FY2010/popstate.htm, our income puts us at just under 300% of the Federal Poverty Line. Based on the House bill–http://www.kff.org/healthreform/upload/healthreform_tri_full.pdf–we will be eligible for health care credits which will keep our premiums under 10% of our salary–which is about $400/month. Am I missing something, or could my premiums be going up 400%?

One thing this computation does not account for is the $135,000 in student loans that my wife and I must pay off. I imagine that if my monthly student loan payments were accounted for, my yearly income would be much closer to the Federal Poverty Line, and clearly I’m not going to be able to afford a quadrupling of my health insurance premiums.

I’m not asking a political question or a partisan question. I don’t need to hear simplistic “Obamacare sucks” answers. I’m not a super smart person, either, so I might be missing something obvious as I’m putting these figures together. So I’m interested in real numbers. What would I reasonably expect under the House’s health care reform bill?

Thanks.
Ha! A friend pointed out my first mistake. Deductions are $105/pay period, or $210/month. Silly, me. But still, the question of what I should expect remains.
@let me steer you:
To offset the extra expense of the Wal-Mart cashier you speak of, premiums are going to be adjusted across the board. As these adjustments are made, it is very possible that my premiums will go up to a limit of 10% of my income. Is my logic flawed? If so, please explain.

Would an auto insurance company have a reason to ignore the fact of having an incorrect VIN Number?

31 May

I got a dui years ago and have now saved enough to buy my car and get it on the road. The risk of my age and record, I found myself going through an insurance company that looks like it literally has holes in the wall. Their advertisement is that they will accept anyone. And they will for the month to month price they can get. I noticed they copied down the wrong vin number for my vehicle. They stated that it was not important for sr22’s. I had some spare time later and went back with the correct one written down for them to copy. In front of me they wrote down the wrong number off the sheet I handed them. “well okay… I’m just going to write down this”. “it shouldn’t be a problem” Is basically what they said to me during the process. is there any reason they would avoid using correct info? Or is it really just not that important?
(PS The number on my mailed insurance cards is incorrect and I just wrecked the car last week).

Would an accident that wasn’t my fault be in my record when switching auto insurance?

21 May

I was hit by a car on the left side of my car, damaging the top bumper and fender as well as scratching the entire left side of the car. The right side of her headlight fell off and I believe she damaged the bumper. A police was there, and she admitted that she hit my car, so it is in the police report. Being that this is my first accident, I was clueless on the procedures to follow after the accident such as informing my insurance about the accident or calling her insurance directly to inform that I’ve been hit by one of their customer. I was told by people that if I inform my insurance and submit a claim even though I wasn’t at fault, it will be in my record although my premium doesn’t increase. However, if I inform her insurance directly and resolve this by myself proving that she was at fault, and then have her insurance pay for the damages on my car, then my insurance wouldn’t have any record of the accident. Out of uncertainty, I called my insurance and reported the accident and submitted a claim, which hasn’t been resolved yet. If the finalized outcome is put against her, and my premium remains the same as I and my insurance wouldn’t have to pay for the damages on my car, would I need to report this to other insurance companies when I want to switch auto insurance? I’m confused and need some clarification on this. Not sure how appropriate it is to ask my insurance agent about this subject. Any advice would be great! Thank you in advance!

How would another company find out my insurance premium?

20 May

My spouses company only allows me to be on their health insurance if my employer covers 49% or less of the premium of the insurance offered to me by my employer. If not, then I am required to have my employer’s insurance and I can have their insurance as a secondary if I’d like. How would they find out what my company pays on the premium? Call my company? I wouldn’t think that would be something that an employer would discuss with someone over the phone.

Why would anyone buy an import when they want to save money?

12 May

The Prius is the most economical import. The Focus is the most economical domestic vehicle. The most common new vehicle auto loan is five years. So this comparison is based at 5 years.

Toyota Prius, 48 MPG City and 45 MPG Hwy.Retail $22,175

If you drive 13,000 miles per year and get 46.5 miles per gallon at $3.499/gallon you will pay $978.21 per year. That’s $4891.05 over 5 years.

Ford Focus, 24 MPG City and 35 MPG Hwy. Retail $14755

If you drive 13,000 miles per year and get 29 miles per gallon at $3.499/gallon you will pay $1568.52 per year. That’s $7842.51 over 5 years.

The Prius costs you $7,420 more just in MSRP but only saves you $3,000 in fuel costs. Sales taxes and property taxes are more expensive with Prius. As are auto insurance rates, and monthly finance payments.

Import cost efficiency is a myth. This is just one example. You can use these formulas to compare any two vehicles. Buy Domestic vehicles for domestic jobs. Fix our economy.

Would this administration ever think of jailing it’s own people if they choose not to buy health care?

08 May

Good God, this is unbelievable, somebody needs to stop these freaks, now! ( and for those who compare it to auto insurance…no one forces you to buy a car)

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”

corndog: You say that everyone should carry their weight, but your entire post is how I should gladly accept that I have to pay others’ health care bills…?

Why would my finance company want me to “escrow” my taxes and homeowners insurance, when I have always paid it?

08 May

yearly on my own? Will I be charged interest on the amount of my taxes and insurance? I have already paid my insurance up for one year paid in November 2008. If I don’t sign my finance papers til February 2009, and they calculate the insurance into my payments, will I get back the portion of my insurance that I have already paid, which would be 10 months of the yearly premium. If you can, explain this to me in simple terns. THANKS
