What is the logical reasoning behind employers providing health insurance instead of the free market?

26 Feb

Why can’t I just go online and quote the lowest health care insurance like I do auto insurance
If the government wasn’t involved, insurance would only be needed for major operations and I could pay for routine checkups in cash

Employers providing insurance started off as a “benefit” of employment…then the labor unions became involved…then the federal government became involved…now the media is involved…Now it’s just something that is expected…Kind of like tipping…someone a long time ago thought this person really did a good job…I would like to reward his/her hard work with a little something extra…pretty soon your generosity become mandatory…and everyone is entitled to something for nothing…I mean really when was the last time you went out to eat and your server really deserved the 20 – 25% tip you left…did they do anything special? No they probably didn’t it’s just EXPECTED…you have to leave a tip…insruance is the same way…it’s just EXPECTED…

    The logical reason is this….

The United States…is bankrupt, Bush and Obama have destroyed the dollar, and the liberals kept us from winning the desperately needed oil we needed from Iraq….

Now our economy isnt growing, we’re spending trillions, and oil is spiking without any real growth (i know my family owns multiple businesses).

While Warren Bufffet….spends every dime he has….$40,000,000,000 on a fuking railroad.

    What does this mean?

The world is out of gas and the dollar is about to be worthless. Head for the hills….

Buy gold. Its going to spike upwards of $1,100 today.

it lowers your taxable income, the more logical thing to do would be to simply make health coverage tax deductible.

Government intervention. Whenever you see something that does not make sense you can believe the Government is responsible for it.

Briefly, this all began with FDR during WWII. The Federal Government imposed wage and price controls on business. Well, unable to keep their best employees by giving them raises, companies began to by-pass the wage controls by offering benefits instead. Thus began the whole mess.

Because the (un)insurance companies are less likely to reject claims made by an employment covered scheme than a private one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOT3XDLKXBs And it ensures that the worker is covered, which means they get back to work sooner.

I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts?
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3].
Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4]
Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.)
Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8].
Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare?
If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.

Once federal, state, and local government employees have gotten the taxpayers to pay for all their runs to the doctor, do you think they will ever give it up? Especially since a lot of those government employees are lawyers who can’t make it in private practice?

It’s about making someone else pay for your health care. Taxpayers pay for the health care of government employees. Consumers pay for the health care of employees of corporations who provide generous benefits. It was easy to pass on these cost. Now it is not so easy for corporations and many are cutting back.

I agree that health insurance should be for catastrophic risks.
